On The Case: POMP Jewelry

I am ALWAYS on the hunt for fabulous jewelry and accessories. High or low end, costume or fine I am an equal opportunity offender and am always on the case. I have recently came across a line of jewelry called POMP designed by actress Sharon Case (AKA Sharon Newman of the Young & The Restless) & Stylist (also for Y&R) Elif Inanc.
The line was initially sold via QVC but is now offered exclusively through their website. They define POMP as "Splendor, Magnificence, Pageantry, grandeur, brilliance, drama. Slang for Pompadour, the very fashionable mistress of Louis XV"

With new pieces being added all the time the collection consists of necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets.

Brilliantly the design duo showcases the POMP pieces on the show as Sharon Newman rocks them around Genoa City! (Thanks to The Young & The Stylish Blog for the Images)
The Silk Cord Bracelet ($9.95), Silver Key Pendant ($29.95) & Silver Star Hoop Earrings ($29.95) are ALL available at POMP

My FAV piece? The Starfish Pendant!
I had the chance to chat with the co-designer/Creator of POMP Sharon Case about her collection;

LISA: What inspired you to create a line of jewelry?

SHARON: I have always loved fashion as does my business partner and best friend Elif Inanc. Elif is a stylist on The Young and the Restless. We wanted to go into business together so we decided to create POMP Jewelry.

LISA: Do you design each piece? if so where does your inspiration come from?

SHARON: Yes we do design each piece. We take our inspiration from the trendy colors of each season and from other classic designs we have always admired.

LISA: What is your FAV piece and why?

SHARON: My favorite pieces are the Pearl Earrings and the Pearl Ring. I have always loved pearls!
LISA: Is your line still sold on QVC? or just your website?

SHARON: We have sold out of our entire inventory on QVC and we are no longer selling there. All of the pieces in our current line are brand new designs.

LISA: When can my readers expect new pieces? Do you design each season?

SHARON: We will be adding to our collection periodically. In fact, we added another brand new design just this week, the Evil Eye Pendant. There will be more new released this spring!

LISA: What are your "go to" pieces of jewelry?

SHARON: The pieces I wear most often are the Hoops and the Diamond Drop earrings. These are everyday "go to" pieces that go with anything I wear, day or night.

LISA: If you had one piece of STYLE advice (as it pertains to jewelry) for women what would it be?

SHARON: Jewelry is what makes any outfit shine. Whether dressed up for cocktails, the office, or just wearing your jeans, a little bit of the right jewelry makes all the difference.

Are you full of POMP & ceremony? I know I am, especially for great pieces and nothing over $40! Excited for spring to see the new pieces ladies!

From Versace to Vintage

It is no secret that I LOVE Gianni Versace as a Fashion visionary and designer. I was styling a look the other day for Evolution Vintage and it reminded me of a Versace collection in the early 1990's (90/1991 I believe) I love the mix of the black & white, bold graphic prints and these coloured 'baubles' (Bracelets & Necklaces). I would love to get my hands on one of the bracelets or bags!

Storm & Grace: LMP is back!

Lisa Marie Presley is BACK with her highly anticipated album: "Storm & Grace", set to be released May 15th. I have been listening to Lisa since her debut album "To Whom It May Concern" (April 2003) and have to say I have always loved her voice, vibe and lyrics. Every artist exposes themselves in some way when they participate in writing their own music/lyrics. Ignore the tabloid junk journalism and listen to the lyrics to get a glimpse into who Lisa really is/was. Albums are a benchmark in time and are reflective of what is going on in an artist life and mind at the time, like a musical time capsule. I know Lisa has evolved since then in her various roles as a wife, mother of 4 and singer/songwriter. Sadly, due to her famous heritage Lisa (in my opinion) was NEVER given fair treatment as an artist from the beginning. The expectations were not realistic and the comparisons totally unproductive. She is a unique individual and it is my hope with the new album it is listened to from that perspective and an objective ear. I for one am excited to listen to her musical/vocal evolution and hear the new tracks!
Track Listing – Storm and Grace

1. Over Me
2. You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet
3. Weary
4. Close To The Edge
5. So Long
6. Un-Break
7. Soften The Blows
8. Storm Of Nails
9. How Do You Fly This Plane?
10. Sticks And Stones
11. Storm and Grace

Regardless of your preconceived notions about Lisa her music is worth a listen!! Download her albums on iTunes

WOMEN: Let's Stand Together

In celebration of International Women's Day I wanted to discuss how more WOMEN should celebrate WOMEN. Although our patriarchal society is largely responsible for our repression over the course of history, women also should be held accountable for their roles. We have made AMAZING progress over the years with with respect to Equality, Reproductive Rights, in the work place, and on a global scale. I feel, we as women should be allies and not competitors and could do better for each other. The mysogynistc undertones still exist across the globe when women deal with various forms of discrimination, degeneration, violence and abuse (largely from men) but women are also culpable to some degree.

The time is NOW to truly stand together in the sisterhood we all share. We have unique challenges and responsibilities as women and should be there as a supportive force to one another, not just today but every day.

In a world of uncertainty, here is what I can CONFIRM:

ALL WOMEN ARE

* Capable
* Worthy
* Unique
* Beautiful

When is the last time you helped out a female friend for no reason? or told another women that they have been an inspiration for you? do you support female owned businesses? or told someone you know they are beautiful? or a good mother? or applauded a female counterpart for what she has accomplished?

Lets celebrate WOMEN today and all that we have done and continue to do to better ourselves and our world. As a giant global team we can make the changes needed to liberate women all over the world to feel truly empowered and inspired and help each other to live up to our full potentials. The change in attitude and action starts with each one of US.

My top 2 Inspirational Women of the year:

Christy Turlington - Model, Mother, Film Maker and Women's Right Activist: Maternal Health -via Every Mother Counts. Her documentary and work abroad has and is continuing to make a difference in the lives of women and mothers everywhere.

Loren Ridinger: Business Woman, Mother, Jewelry Designer, who is on a relentless digital-quest to inspire women and empower them to be the best they can be, in business and otherwise.

‎"Inside of you is a smart, powerful, dynamic, capable, self-confident, alive, alert, fabulous woman! Let her come out and play. The world is waiting for you." - Louise L. Hay

All Mixed Up: Animal Floral Fusion

What I sincerely love about fashion is your vast array of options. The only limit is the 2 C's - your personal CREATIVITY and CONFIDENCE. some women fall in love with looks but claim not to have the confidence to "pull it off". I personally beg to differ; if you can DREAM IT you can DO IT, or in this case wear it.

I love to mix and match colours, prints, and textiles. One of my latest obsessions is an Animal/Floral fusion.

The mixture of A floral print with an animal print or element. Mixing Pansies and python or Lillie's and leopard the colors and combo's are truly endless. Make sure all the animal elements are FAUX! Wearing your own skin is important. Opt for Fake Skin or Mock Crock. All the faux fur textiles are so realistic there are no excuses not to be compassionate and CHIC!

Have you used these two elements to mix it up before?

Here are a few inspirations I love:

Eva Mendes

It even exists in nature. Did you know there is a Leopard Flower?

Known as: Iris domestica which is a flowering perennial of Chinese origin and is locally used in Chinese villages for its medicinal values. The dried rhizome has long been used in East Asia to treat throat troubles, asthma, swollen liver and spleen, gonorrhea, malaria, and arrow poisoning.

Now there is no excuse not to at least try Animal Floral Fusion .. it's only natural!

Brave the Botanicals

Fashion as an industry is essentially based on the recycling of ideas. The old becomes new and the new becomes old .. fast! Spring is upon us and from where I sit florals are FABULOUS, the bolder the botanical the better as we all tend to our personal garment gardens (AKA CLOSETS). Weed out items from seasons past, pack up all your winter gear and brave some botanicals!!
