The Stafford Project: A Laugh at Life

You may know actress Michelle Stafford from the hit CBS Daytime soap opera The Young and The Restless as the feisty character Phyllis Summers. With her character she sure brought the drama to Genoa City, but she is now bringing the laughter to YouTube in her new series 'The Stafford Project'.
Michelle has recently left Y&R after 16 years of playing the beloved character of Phyllis. I have been reading peoples reactions and the constant barrage of questioning as to WHY? From where I sit I am not surprised that after 16 years this creative woman has chosen to simply move on, evolve her craft and try something new. It seems like a simple case of creative evolution to me. I said bye to "Phyllis" when she drifted into her coma on the show and now I'm over it. Enter Michelle Stafford: Comedic Actress.
The Stafford Project is a scripted, comedic web series based on Michelle's life. It will explore the humor in the up's and downs of dating, motherhood, her issues with fertility and everything generally funny about 'Doing it as a Single Chick'. She recently launched a new web site  as well where she explores all topics related to life, style, dating, health, motherhood and more from her perspective as a working single mother AKA Doing it as a Single Chick. It has been my experience that fact is oddly funnier and stranger than fiction when it comes to life and I look forward to her series developing and the depiction of the humor in hers. The series features her beautiful little girl Natalia and her friends "The Paige's" (Paige Long and Paige Dorian) who are also co-creators and writers for the series.  Michelle told me that the audience can expect 11 episodes and the third episode is scheduled for upload early September.

I had a chance to chat with Michelle about the series recently,
LG: The series is a ‘scripted depiction’ of your life, what inspired you to ‘let the camera’s in’? Will you explore all facets of your life?

MS: Well, it's a comedy "based" on experiences in my life. I'm not really letting the cameras in... I will explore whatever is funny.
LG: Is there anything off limits, or is all’s fair in love and comedy? (ex: religion, etc.)

MS: The only thing off limits is something that is not entertaining. Something that no one can relate to. Something boring. All people can Relate to striking out in the game, or trying to make things go the good way despite obstacles.  We won't delve into religion or politics cuz it's just not funny.
LG:  How does Natalia like the camera’s? She looks like a natural character (I follow you on Instagram) She is the ultimate #Instakid.
 Images courtesy of Michelles Instagram
MS: Ha!! She is a instakid that kid of mine. I have been following her with a camera since she was born. She's kinda used to it. I mean There are probably 6 pics of me when I was a kid. Nowadays thanks to Steve jobs, people have thousands of pics of their kids.

LG: You are now exploring your comedic side.  Would you ever hit the road for some LIVE Stafford Stand up?

MS: Oh!! If I could do stand up I would... THAT is a ballsy gig!! I am not that naturally funny.
Well, I beg to differ Michelle. If the first two episodes are any indication, I think you are pretty damn funny... scripted or not. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the series! It would do us all good to have a good laugh at our lives and the bazaar circumstances we sometimes find ourselves in. The message to me is not to take yourself or your life too seriously. An injection of humor makes all the bullshit seem better and can help take the trauma out of the tragedy.

Have you seen the series yet?

Farewell Mrs. Chancellor

The grand jewel in the crown of the daytime series The Young and the Restless has been lost today in actress Jeanne Cooper.
She passed away today at the age of 84 after battling an undisclosed illness. She has been a part of life in my home for over 20 years in her role of Katherine Chancellor.
Since the tender age of 14 I loved watching "Mrs. C" with the glitz and glamour she toted around Genoa City and the heart her character had. She was always there with a tweed clad shoulder to cry on,
wagging her jeweled encrusted finger with advice
and always called a spade and space in her beautiful brooched glory.
I have a feeling Jeanne's heart was equal or greater than that of her most famous character based on the tweets and messages of condolence from her cast mates and those who knew her (Read Here). My thoughts and deepest condolence to her family and friends.

Jeanne Began her career as an actress in 1953 in a film "The Redhead from Wyoming"  as the character Myra.
She went on to act in 31 more films as well as over 14 television roles, most famously her full time role on The Young and the Restless.
Jeanne & Co-Star Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman)

I think it is truly amazing that Jeanne she was one of the longest-serving serial television actors in American media history. She joined the cast of Y&R in 1973. For her work on the show she received two Emmy Awards.

Last summer she released her memoir "Not Young, Still Restless"

Pick up the book and read her amazing life story in her own words!

The show will not be the same without her ... Farewell Mrs. Chancellor
"Jeanne Cooper - A genuine person, gifted performer, good friend to all. Never before and never again. A true artist and legend. She will be missed. My thoughts and my love are with her family" B&B's Executive Producer/Head Writer Bradley Bell

“I never wanted to be a movie star. I always wanted to be an actress, one of the best. And I am.”

On The Case: POMP Jewelry

I am ALWAYS on the hunt for fabulous jewelry and accessories. High or low end, costume or fine I am an equal opportunity offender and am always on the case. I have recently came across a line of jewelry called POMP designed by actress Sharon Case (AKA Sharon Newman of the Young & The Restless) & Stylist (also for Y&R) Elif Inanc.
The line was initially sold via QVC but is now offered exclusively through their website. They define POMP as "Splendor, Magnificence, Pageantry, grandeur, brilliance, drama. Slang for Pompadour, the very fashionable mistress of Louis XV"

With new pieces being added all the time the collection consists of necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets.

Brilliantly the design duo showcases the POMP pieces on the show as Sharon Newman rocks them around Genoa City! (Thanks to The Young & The Stylish Blog for the Images)
The Silk Cord Bracelet ($9.95), Silver Key Pendant ($29.95) & Silver Star Hoop Earrings ($29.95) are ALL available at POMP

My FAV piece? The Starfish Pendant!
I had the chance to chat with the co-designer/Creator of POMP Sharon Case about her collection;

LISA: What inspired you to create a line of jewelry?

SHARON: I have always loved fashion as does my business partner and best friend Elif Inanc. Elif is a stylist on The Young and the Restless. We wanted to go into business together so we decided to create POMP Jewelry.

LISA: Do you design each piece? if so where does your inspiration come from?

SHARON: Yes we do design each piece. We take our inspiration from the trendy colors of each season and from other classic designs we have always admired.

LISA: What is your FAV piece and why?

SHARON: My favorite pieces are the Pearl Earrings and the Pearl Ring. I have always loved pearls!
LISA: Is your line still sold on QVC? or just your website?

SHARON: We have sold out of our entire inventory on QVC and we are no longer selling there. All of the pieces in our current line are brand new designs.

LISA: When can my readers expect new pieces? Do you design each season?

SHARON: We will be adding to our collection periodically. In fact, we added another brand new design just this week, the Evil Eye Pendant. There will be more new released this spring!

LISA: What are your "go to" pieces of jewelry?

SHARON: The pieces I wear most often are the Hoops and the Diamond Drop earrings. These are everyday "go to" pieces that go with anything I wear, day or night.

LISA: If you had one piece of STYLE advice (as it pertains to jewelry) for women what would it be?

SHARON: Jewelry is what makes any outfit shine. Whether dressed up for cocktails, the office, or just wearing your jeans, a little bit of the right jewelry makes all the difference.

Are you full of POMP & ceremony? I know I am, especially for great pieces and nothing over $40! Excited for spring to see the new pieces ladies!
