Get The Look: Carrie Chic

Carrie's Closet

It is no secret that one of my all time fashion icons is the character of Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. It should also be noted that the actress who portrays Carrie, Sarah Jessica Parker is equally as fascinating and iconic from a style perspective.

In 6 seasons Carrie (via stylist Pat Fields) served us up some amazing and inspirational looks: Her Vintage looks are some of my favorites - see them HERE

In season 6, Carries "Date Night" look I adore. Now is your chance to replicate the spirit of her look using a mix of Vintage and Contemporary pieces.

Re-Create the look:

You can use any variation of the above to achieve Carrie's look.

Shoe Style: SJP

The wait is over SOLE sisters. Sarah Jessica Parker has launched her shoe line, SJP. We knew it was just a matter of time before the woman behind the ultimate pop culture shoe goddess, Carrie Bradshaw would launch a shoe line. She has teamed up with the CEO of Manolo Blahnik USA, George Malkemus and exclusive retailer Nordstrom. The collection officially launched February 28.
The three F's apply to the collection: Feminine, Flirty, Functional.
Buckle up because the designs are very strappy. SJP is bringing back the ankle strap!
Of course there are heels but she also offers flats, sandals and espadrille wedges. And what is a sexy shoe without a chic bag to go with it? the clutches retail for $245. You can also find two trench coat designs in the collection.
Since her iconic role as Carrie, SJP has been a fashion 'heavy hitter' and a style inspiration to women around the globe. I have always been a fan of her style and wanted to style shoes from her new collection with Vintage pieces from my eBoutique, Evolution Vintage The ultimate way to re-style fashions past current, using SHOES!

15 Years Ago Today ...

One of the BEST television programs aired it's first episode, and I've never stopped watching.  On June 6, 1998 the television landscape changed forever with the first of 96 episodes of Sex and the City
Final Scene of Ep. 1

Sex and the City was one of the most well written, clever, and stylish shows ever to air, in my opinion.

I can't even imagine how many women's lives were forever changed by this Fab Four! I know mine was.
There was pieces from each character that myself and my friends could identify with. Their triumphs and tragedies, bad dates and wardrobe malfunctions. I loved the evolution of each character as they navigated their way through their lives and relationships with other people just to discover the most important relationship ANY of us have is with our self! There are other parts of the show that were pure fashion fantasy, the closets and shoe collections. I adored watching just the wardrobe and styling of each character.
My next 4 blogs will be dedicated to the fashion/wardrobe evolution of each character - THANKS TO Stylist Patricia Field and her genius team!

The characters became part of our family for 6 seasons and 2 films!

CHEERS FABS & Thanks for all the laughs!

“The most important thing in life is your family. There are days you love them, and others you don’t. But, in the end, they’re the people you always come home to. Sometimes it’s the family you’re born into and sometimes it’s the one you make for yourself.” ~ Carrie Bradshaw

Silver Saturday Shoe: Past to Present

Sex and The City S 6 Episode 83 "A Woman's Right To Shoes"

Fashion's Past ALWAYS serves to inspire fashion's future. It makes me laugh when women roll their eyes at the thought of a "Vintage" piece and how "un-modern" it is.  I recently sourced these amazing Silver shoes for the Holiday 2012 offerings at Evolution Vintage.

It reminded me immediately of the Modern Manolo Blahnik designed silver Sedaraby d'Orsay pumps I purchased in a slingback (c. 2007)
and were made famous in another style in the Sex and The City Episode where Carrie's shoes were stolen
Shoe Story: d'Orsay style pump is a shoe in which the vamp (or side) is cut away to reveal the arch of the foot. The front or back portion may be open or closed. They were named after Count Alfred d'Orsay; a 19th c "dandy", artist and friend of Lord Byron. This style of shoe was worn by men at the time and the cut out sides were introduced to accommodate a wider foot.

The buckle detail is the past-present connection.

The shoes from the 1960's are rhinestone encrusted in a similar buckle shape.
The Manolo's are encrusted with crystals.
The materials and design have evolved and obviously the Manolo's are much higher end but the basic concepts have been there for the better part of 45 years.

Are you ready for your Silver Cinderella Moment?

Manolo's come in a range of sizes.  (34-42 EU or 3.5-4-11.5-12 US) Order a half size larger than what you wear normally as this style runs small.

Are you a Size 7.5 AA? Rock your holiday party in this amazing piece of fashion's past.
