Makeup Moment: Spring Look with Hanna Fisher

I love learning new tips and tricks about makeup and I'm up for trying ANY look. Most of my inspiration comes from images I see on-line. I recently had the opportunity to experience a full facial experience with a very professional and talented Central Coast Makeup Artist: Hanna Fisher of Hanna F Makeup Design.  She has always been an artist in some form; canvas, keyboards and now faces. She uses a wide range of products from different brands and price points to achieve her signature looks.

We tried a beautiful spring look that coincided with a look I have been waiting to wear, my bright new Prabal Gurung for Target Dress in highlighter yellow

I got a step-by-step professional makeup look complete with tips I can use everyday! We started with a no-makeup, fresh face. Of course none of us have Hanna at home so you can modify the steps to suit your routine. Note all images were taken with the reverse camera on iPhone so the images are not as sharp but even with the grainy finish her skill level is clear.
No Makeup

PRO TIP: Eyes First! Then you will not experience the color fall out on your cheeks and under eyes and have to cover over or re-do your foundation. Women usually start with foundation as a base and then eyes, save yourself time and steps by doing your brows and shadow first!
Hanna-ism: Your eyebrows are SISTERS not TWINS! Too many people do not realize or accept that a human face is asymmetrical and try to match their brows. It is virtually impossible. Accept and work with what you have!
PRODUCTS: EYES

PRO TIP: PRIME, COLOR  CORRECT, CONCEAL

PRODUCTS: PRIMERS
PRODUCTS: FACE
Under Eye Color Corrector: by MAC
Concealer: Mineralized Concealer by MAC (NW15 & NW20 Blend)
Foundation: Temptu Airbrush Foundation (Custom Color Blend)
Blush: Powder to The People (Limited Edition) by MAC
Highlighter: Mary Loumanizer by TheBalm Cosmetics (cheek bones and brow bones, cupids bow, bridge of nose)
I have never worn blush in my life or had my Cheeks contoured. What a difference!
You can really see the contour, highlighter and blush. All done with hand held brushes, not airbrush.

PRO TIP: Layering is the key to a luscious lip. Liner, Lipstick, Gloss + high GLOSS

Line Up

Linda Evangelista - Photog: Steven Meisel

I LOVE to Line Up when creating the perfect eye. In recent years I have gotten into the use of eyeliner. There is nothing sexier to me than a BLACK "Cat's Eye" or "Wing". After all these years it remains a make-up staple.

A lot of women have told me they love the lined look but are unable to do it. Just like everything else in life ladies it takes practice, trial and error and a little bit of experimentation.  DO NOT try liner until perfected on the day of an event. Start your practice in advance.

Here is a photographic step-by-step Vintage liner "PicTorial"

It's fun to play with different liners, and then pair with various eye shadow colours and techniques. The only limit id your imagination.

I use M.A.C. Angle Brush # 208 (It is technically for Eye Brows but I love it for my lash line)

The Result - My mix of Pink Shadow (Kat Von D: Mi Vida Loca) & Wing Liner

TIP: I pull my eye lid FLAT to get the perfect line. Then fill in.

Need a step-by-step guide??

EYE LOVE COLOUR

I am obsessed with COLOUR (YES with a U - I'm Canadian). Anyway, My most recent colour purchase came in the form of eye shadow. I like the pigments from Tattoo artist Kat Von D's makeup line for Sephora (I have both her Ludwig & Beethoven palettes) and recently purchased her NEW pallet for Spring 2012 "Mi Vida Loca".

The palette is inspired by her back tattoo with the same name (Spanish for "My Crazy Life") and her love of colours. I remember reading somewhere that the best part of her day and one of the only times she has alone, is when she is applying her makeup.
I love her Rock-N-Roll / Theatre take on her makeup and wanted to share her new collection with any bold beauties out there in cyber space looking to chuck your neutral tones and try some colour.

I think this is the coolest rainbow effect and I will be compelled to try:

Get polished for the season

Kat too commercial for you? Take this Coloured "Peacock Inspired Eye" from the Fall/Winter 2012 Runway of Roberto Cavalli (and make-up artist Pat McGrath)

Are you ready to ROCK life's runway in COLOUR?
