Recently I shot the images for my NEW One-Of-A-Kind Vintage Re-Styled Ring Collection, Evolution Rewind (Available May 21st). During the shoot we utilized a few Vintage props and the beautiful beach close to my home. I selected this AMAZING 1950's Princess Style Rotary Phone to showcase the above pictured amazing Rewind Ring and decided the phone needed a new home with me.
The phone has an old 4 prong male plug which I will soon get converted so I can actually use the phone. My hope is it is fully functional. The epitome of Chic Communication!
But what if it didn't work? besides a beautiful decorative conversation piece I am all about Re-Styling the past to be functional and current.
I'm now obsessed with Telephone Purses and Bags.
Check out this old rotary phone (my parents had the EXACT same one) that has been converted into a bag!
$65 via ChicaandJo
And if you HAVE a non-functional piece use this DIY tutorial to convert it into a PURSE!! Style and embellish it to your own unique taste.
You can Go GA GA over a Fabulous Vintage 1970's Dallas Telephone Purse
Vintage 70's Dallas Telephone Purse .. with a FUNCTIONING Phone! $179 a small price to pay for such a unique and AMAZING statement piece!

What is your FAV shade of the season?

We all love the sweet taste of sugar. I usually don't have much of a sweet tooth, unless there is a Cadbury Mini Egg involved. I have been doing a lot of research lately on health and nutrition and have been surprised to know how the sweet substance is making us all SICK. I thought I understood how sugar was used in the body and how it has an impact on diabetes. What I uncovered was that I still have a lot to learn.
In the video clip below; Dr. Robert Lustig illustrates the overabundance of sugar in today's processed convenience foods and explains how our bodies metabolize these sugars in the same way as alcohol or other toxins, causing damage to the liver and other organs.
I do enjoy sweets from time to time but is it really worth it? an impulse to indulge in processed treats for the internal damage it is causing and unnecessary pressure on our already over worked systems?
Thought for today: How much sugar do I consume? How much do I feed to my children?
Knowledge is power. When you know better, you can do better!

Happy Earth Day Everyone!! Today is a time to reflect on the impact our daily choices have on the planet which we all share. Every day we make choices which either reduce or increase our carbon footprint. Have you ever stopped to consider the environmental impact of what you choose to put on your plate?
Did you know?
* A Worldwatch Institute study from 2009 found that that the meat, egg, and dairy industries (Factory Farming) now contribute up to 51% of greenhouse gases worldwide!
*Factory farming produces more than 3 times the greenhouse gases of all transportation worldwide ( their contribution is 14%). That is more than all the trucks, cars, SUV's, trains, and plane's in the WORLD COMBINED!
*37% of those gasses are from Methane (YES from Cow Manure) - this is 23 TIMES more than the impact of C02 on Global Warming.
* According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), 35,000 miles of rivers in 22 states and groundwater in 17 states has been permanently contaminated by industrial farm waste.
* The average American already consuming more than 200 pounds of meat per year, the choice to support industrial farming is devastating from an environmental perspective, exacerbating global warming and jeopardizing a plentiful food supply for future generations that today we take for granted. (Farm Sanctuary)
There are SO MANY facts to support the destruction and devastation that factory farming and supportive industries are having on our planet.
So when you sit down to dinner, consider the 200 pounds of another species flesh that you consume in a year and what effect this will have on the earth you will leave to your children, grandchildren and other innocent members of society after you are gone. Eating meat is a CHOICE and not a necessity for health or survival. Many in the scientific community believe human's are natural Vegetarians
What Can You Do?
*Stop Making Excuses for Eating Meat and Animal Products and get Educated.
*Leave meat off your plate:
*You can save more water by not eating one pound of beef than you do by not showering for an entire year (Full Article)
*If every American skips one meal of meat per week and chooses vegetarian foods instead, the greenhouse gases would be the same as taking half a million off US roads (Full Article)
Try it today in honor of EARTH DAY! Try No Meat or Animal Products (Eggs, Cheese, Milk). Get creative in the kitchen tonight!

Our lives are so fast paced and most of us are over obligated. This leaves little time for providing ourselves with adequate nutrition, or does it? The biggest "excuse" I have heard (and made) about not eating healthy is that I don't have time - Translation = It is not a priority for me. I used to make this excuse in the past and now that I am adapting a much more healthy lifestyle honestly at this juncture I have LESS time and more obligations than I did before, yet somehow I have time to shop accordingly. Now that I have made it a priority I have no problem preparing healthy meals for my family.
Visualization always work for me to put things into perspective. I wanted to share this image as it related to calorie intake, nutrition and feeling satisfied (or sated). It is simple to see why we over eat. We are over fed an under nourished.
Think about what you are putting into your system today. Mindfully choose your meals and snacks. Get creative in your kitchen and see the ways you can work in healthy foods into your daily routine to replace the non-nutritious ones. I don't know about you but I would much prefer to be the stomach on the far right. Remember: what you put into your body will be directly reflected on the outside. Just a little food for thought today!

Art Smith "Modernist Cuff" ~ 1948
I am an equal opportunity offender when it comes to my accessories. I LOVE them ALL. I honestly can't say that I prefer one over another but where and how I style them are situational and outfit dependent of course.
Bracelets (Especially cuffs) have had my PROFashional attention fro quite some time now. There are a million different styles, textures, materials and styles when it comes to wrapping your wrist.
The origin of the term 'bracelet' is from the Greek 'brachile' meaning 'of the arm', via the Old French 'barcel'. A bracelet is also a small brace or bracer (an arm-guard used by archers).
Just like with everything in Fashion there are NO hard and fast RULES on how to style bracelets. You can stack them, mix & match them, double cuff each wrist, or style it solo.
I have heard rumblings of an ankle bracelet trend rearing it's fugly head for Spring/Summer 2012. That trend, for me is right up there with the bare mid drift in the tacky and unnecessary category.
I WILL however stack this season:
Vintage Yellow Shades - Stacking Bangle Set
(Styled with Vintage Cream Terry Dress & Vintage Gold/Yellow Stone Choker)
My FAV style of them all lately has been the Vintage Hinge or Clamp Bracelet. I adore this red jeweled piece.
How will you BRACE yourself this season????
